Spherack Online 2 is the sequel of the original and unsuccessful, Spherack Online. The series began as a programming experiment for Andrew, who had wanted to try out making his own simple online multiplayer game to cover up some spare time and learn a thing or two. However, after realizing how fun the original was despite its millions of bugs and lag issues, he decided to continue the series and release Spherack Online 2 after months of adding new features and fixing bugs.
Spherack Online 2 offers team gameplay for up to 20 players per server in one of two modes: Team Deathmatch & Explosives.
Team Deathmatch is pretty much self-explanatory; you have both teams, the “Spherans” and “Eradians” shooting members of the opposite team to gain points and the team with the most kills is the winner.
In Explosives, the Eradians have to try and plant a bomb at the Spheran base, and if that is to occur, they’ll have to defend it while the Spherans try and disarm it. If the Spherans can’t disarm it within around 20-30 seconds, the bomb will explode and the Eradians will win the match.
Spherack 2 additionally came with seven maps as opposed to the original which only had one.
The server program was completely done over and offered many new features to administrators, such as the ability to kick users, control in-game weather effects, control the time-of-day effects and select which map the users will battle on. It also contained a server info page tracking in-game statistics such as total kills and bullets fired, as well as displayed other server variables… all mainly for debugging. It also contained a server news page with server owner news from PCS.
Spherack Online 2 was by far a larger success and much better, more complete game than the original between its wide variety of features, minimal lag and bug fixes.
